Bangkok: Climate change [hoax] talks likely to be heated
Heated debates between industrialised and developing countries over greenhouse gas emission cuts are expected to dominate the 12-day climate change talks which start in Bangkok on Monday, Natural Resources and Environment Minister Suwit Khunkitti says.

"As the host, Bangkok wants significant progress in climate change negotiations, but developed and developing countries are likely to stand firm on their positions," Mr Suwit said yesterday as he unveiled preparations for the international meeting being attended by almost 3,000 senior officials and climate negotiators from 192 countries.

About 2,000 green activists, lobbyists, and pressure groups are also gathering to observe the event.
We won’t be able to save the world in 74 days | Noreena Hertz - Times Online
Given that we are now only 74 days from the Copenhagen summit, which was supposed to frame the successor agreement to Kyoto that would stop climate change in its tracks, this is depressing. Perhaps the only people not suddenly depressed are those immersed in the negotiations. With more than a thousand points still to be agreed, all the policymakers I’ve spoken to recently say that they cannot see how a meaningful deal can be reached by December in Copenhagen.

In reality, everyone is already gearing up behind the scenes for what I would call “Copenhagen 2”, and what those more involved are calling “an even greater slog”.
