Kaufman et al: Obstructed by Thompson and Jacoby « Climate Audit
A CA reader sent me an email, noting the following entry in minutes of a meeting.
M Loso inquired about Lonnie Thompson’s ice core data. These data are not presently available but will be investigated by Caspar.
The Associated Press: Election trouble brewing for House Dems in 2010
Indeed, the "cap and trade" bill that narrowly passed the House last spring is creating headaches for several Democrats. The legislation, which would cap carbon emissions and tax industries that exceed the cap as a way to reduce global warming, is largely unpopular in areas of the country where jobs rely on oil, gas or coal production.

One Democrat most affected is New Mexico Democrat Harry Teague. His district, which McCain carried last year, is one of the largest oil and gas producing areas in the country, and Teague has faced angry crowds back home ever since voting yes.
RealClearPolitics - Obama's Dissolving Credibility
Hasn't the overall theme of Obama's administration-from the auto bailouts to cap-and-trade-been the relentless expansion of government power at the expense of individual freedom?
Americans can't afford Obama's cap and trade proposal | mansfieldnewsjournal.com
ndependent experts confirm and even President Obama's aides admit that this bill will cost American "workers" more than $2 trillion in eight years. After all, the whole point of cap and trade is to raise the cost of electricity and gas to the point that Americans will be forced to use less. These higher prices will show up in every single manufactured item. Consumers will then have less money to spend on goods, which will reduce production, which means fewer jobs created and higher unemployment. Some companies will simply move their operations overseas, with the same result.
