MUST READ: Judging Global Warming As A Scientific Theory by Doug L. Hoffman | Climate Realists
Recapping, five out of five predictions made by global warming alarmists, based on the theory of anthropogenic global warming, have been shown to be inaccurate or out right false. Greenland's glaciers are not about to disappear, sea-levels are not rapidly rising, polar bears are not going extinct, hurricanes have not become more frequent or more violent, and temperatures are currently going down, not up. The predicted outcomes of AGW simply are not coming to pass. As we stated in The Resilient Earth:

After examining the science, the IPCC's claims and predictions, and the possible impact realistic levels of global warming could have on our world, we conclude that there is no imminent threat—not to nature, people or human civilization.
Climate Research News » Oil is NOT a Fossil Fuel, and CO2 is an Innocent Victim of Green Hysteria by Peter J Morgan
A team consisting of Russian scientists and Dr J. F. Kenney, of Gas Resources Corporation, Houston, USA, have actually built a reactor vessel and proven that oil is produced from calcium carbonate and iron oxide, as detailed on the Gas Resources website www.gasresources.net/AlkaneGenesis.htm
Sea Ice - Sept 2009 « Climate Audit
That my guess was so close was due more to good luck than acumen, but there were some reasons for it. Canada has some exposure to northern weather and it has been a cool summer here and very cool in northern Ontario. 2008 had not been as big a melt as 2007 and presumably there was presumably a bit more two-year ice in 2009 than in 2008. While 2008 and 2009 were about even at the time, the trajectories looked different and it seemed to me that 2009 might stabilize at a higher level than 2008.

And yet in early/mid August, these factors didn't seem to be on the minds of the official agencies since, as noted above, EVERY official agency substantially over-estimated the melt.
The Reference Frame: Schellnhuber: West has exceeded quotas
Of course, Schellnhuber is not the first hardcore nutcase of this kind who has been saying such things, pretending that he is oh so smart.
The Crashing Liberal Agenda - HUMAN EVENTS
Liberals may also try to strike a compromise on their war against carbon emissions and global warming (even though the planet’s cooling). Conservatives should make absolutely clear that a cap-and-trade regime on power plants or a renewable electricity standard are not acceptable. Both would raise the cost of energy, especially to states that depend heavily on coal (think West Virginia, Wyoming, North Dakota, Utah, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio and Missouri). Conservatives should also reject a Low-Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS), which would increase our independence on Middle Eastern oil and be tremendously expensive.
