unless demand for oil slows, there cannot be a "peak" supply in a supply and demand driven market economy. With high enough demand, oil would eventually be produced out of coal or maybe synthesized out of wood or out of CO2 with nuclear energy, but there cannot be an inevitable limit. An inevitable limit in supply is only possible in a government-driven communist system in which outer forces dictate what is produced and how much.
BTW the greens have a new term they call "peak energy". They've found that nuclear energy has the potential to supply humans for the next 5000 years, so they're afraid their de-population agenda isn't working anymore, and now they've GOT to shut down nuclear development ASWELL as oil drilling to accomplish their agenda.
