Bangkok climate change diary: acronyms, ambition and underwater meetings | John Vidal | Environment | guardian.co.uk
What's the difference between "sustainable forest management" (SFM) and "sustainable management of forests" (SMF)? A very great deal in the surreal climate change talks here in Bangkok, where the final order of these three letters in the forestry text could make the difference between the global logging industry being subsidised by governments to continue clear-felling Africa and Indonesia, and communities being left to live in strongly protected forests. Australia needs to pass its carbon reduction legislation before the UN climate conference in Copenhagen, or it cannot expect the world to listen to its concerns.Much Work Remains on Senate Climate Bill - State Journal - STATEJOURNAL.com
