Already delayed by our two wars in the Middle East and the financial meltdown, now health care reform threatens to push a solution for global climate change off the front of the agenda once again.

By 2050 China, Canada and northern Russia will be able to grow more wheat than today. However, their projected increase of between 2.4 and 3.1 percent in yields will far from outweigh a global trend of dramatic decline in yields. As wheat production drops, the price is expected to go up to as much as 334 US dollars per metric ton compared to 113 US dollars in 2000.
