IMAO » Blog Archive » Could Science! Be Wrong?
I don’t know who these “some” are that would say that. Is that a British thing? Do they actually say “hotting” instead of “heating”? Plus, it’s blasphemy. As we have asserted over and over, global warming climate change is settled Science! To imply that the cooling of the past decade is something scientists can’t easily explain is to speak slander against almighty Science! The past, present, and future is not unknown to us because we have computer models. Computer models made using Science! They did not see this cooling happening, so it is not happening. Science! is not some religion that can later be reinterpreted; it is right from the beginning and always right.

American Thinker Blog: Excuses for Lack of Global Warming
After pretending that global warming skeptics are bloggers, not scientists, and that their home is the blogosphere, not the peer-reviewed literature, AAAS attributes the more-than-decade-long failure of the globe to warm to a "natural swing in climate." In other words, when the climate warms, it is as a result of anthropogenic causes, but when it cools or fails to warm, it is as a result of natural causes. Increases of temperature are human-caused. Decreases are nature-caused.

People who argue this way are not scientists, but lawyers with a bad case.
Sens. Kerry, Graham in NYT: What a Racket!  | GlobalWarming.org
...The first half of this paragraph amounts to a threat: Act now on climate change, or the EPA will, and those guys are crazy. The last sentence includes a bribe: Kerry and Graham are proposing “job protections and investment incentives,” no doubt tailored to your constituents and financed by the general public. Of course, it’s the American taxpayer who is getting extorted. Threats, bribes, extortion…That’s a lot of racketeering, even for Senators.

Climate change to re-shape tourism | Environment | guardian.co.uk
Report warns industry will face dramatic changes over the coming decade as climate change and shifting demographics increase pressure on many resorts.
...
In contrast, "divided disquiet" suggests that political instability will have made many world destinations unpalatable, except for doomsday tourism, where people flock to see rapidly disappearing natural resources.

Finally, the report warns that a "price and privilege" scenario could see rising fuel and energy costs make long-distance travel too expensive for most people, while a "carbon clampdown" where legislative measures such as personal carbon credits combine with greater education on the risks associated with climate change could similarly lead to reduced demand for international travel.
