The Reference Frame: Snow clouds banned in Moscow
The expenses for cleaning Moscow from snow are equal to tens of millions of dollars a year.

Imagine that you're the mayor of Moscow and you're told that it costs 6 million dollars to "seed" all snow clouds during the winter, so that they drop their loads outside the city. The biggest clouds will be targeted by the air defense system.

In Tennessee, researchers at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory and at the National Center for Atmospheric Research have incorporated the nitrogen cycle into global simulations for climate change. To date, climate models ignored the nutrient requirements for new vegetation growth, assuming that all plants on earth had access to as much “plant food” as they needed.
