The Santa Barbara Independent Economists Talk Climate Change [Hoax] at UCSB
The conference that took place October 9 and 10 was attended by approximately 100 economists and other researchers. It provided an economic perspective on climate change, trying to gauge the effects of potential government policies, and consumer and corporate action.

There was a consensus that government and corporate action, as well as household and individual action, will be required to ease the effects of global warming—but the specific actions and their costs are still in question, and this was a recurring theme during the conference.
...
The conference was made possible in part by a grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. It was sponsored by the University of California Center for Energy and Environmental Economics, the UCSB Department of Economics, the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management, and the Ivory Tower Winery.
More Layoffs Rumored at Current TV | NBC Los Angeles
San Francisco-based Current Media, cofounded by former Vice President Al Gore, is looking to lay off more local employees, according to a source familiar with its plans.

The company laid off 60 employees last year, or about 15 percent of its staff, though promised to rehire some in new positions.
...
It's also bad news for Current's investors, who had hoped to cash in with a $100 million public offering of shares, only to see those plans cancelled.
First annual award for global warming sanity
...If I don't hear an outcry from readers, I will change plans and give it to Steve McIntyre as worthy recipient of the first annual award for sanity regarding global warming. It is McIntyre, after all, working for tips on his weblog, who has done the due diligence that apparently escaped the close-knit community surrounding the Real Climate pack of scientists, who let errors of data collection and analysis creep into the papers announcing MORE! GLOBAL! WARMING! NOW!, contributing so much to the frenzy that is only now subsiding.
