Breaking: Hadley computers allegedly hacked – exposing warming “conspiracy” @ Coalblog
If true, it would seem that being “effective” will have taken precedence over being honest. If true, this could be one of the largest scientific frauds ever perpetrated. Given the impact that this and related climate research has had on climate policy, the world economy, energy generation, and specifically the coal industry, such a revelation would be devastating for climate research as a whole.
The great coverup – Hacker exposes climate science conspiracy | Tony's Rants
Skeptics of manmade climate change may very well have found their Holy Grail. A hacker apparently broke into the computer systems of the UK’s Hadley Climate Research Unit and made off with over 1,000 emails and dozens of files. The contents of the archive, if proven to be authentic, would expose nothing less than a conspiracy amongst some of the world’s leading climate scientists.

As told on the Climate Change Examiner, the emails detail discussions taking place that include the modification of climate data, preventing access to data by those who disagree, deleting data that does not fit the global warming theory and so much more. This would be nothing less than one of the biggest scandals to have occurred in science.
Climategate: the final nail in the coffin of ‘Anthropogenic Global Warming’? – James Delingpole - Telegraph Blogs
[from an email] Next time I see Pat Michaels at a scientific meeting, I’ll be tempted to beat the crap out of him. Very tempted.
...
And, perhaps most reprehensibly, a long series of communications discussing how best to squeeze dissenting scientists out of the peer review process. How, in other words, to create a scientific climate in which anyone who disagrees with AGW can be written off as a crank, whose views do not have a scrap of authority.
...
Unfortunately, we’ve a long, long way to go before the public mood (and scientific truth) is reflected by our policy makers. There are too many vested interests in AGW, with far too much to lose either in terms of reputation or money, for this to end without a bitter fight.

But if the Hadley CRU scandal is true,it’s a blow to the AGW lobby’s credibility which is never likely to recover.
By the way, as of this moment, I see no mention of Climategate on Dot Earth, RealClimate, or Climate Progress.
