Did Keith Briffa (or some other insider) leak the CRU emails?

Comment: Tom Nelson
[papertiger] Of course the emails are real. More then that, we know who the insider/mole is.

Keith Briffa leaked these emails. How do I know? The author of the Yamal chronologies released the data dump through his Russian contacts, that's how I know.
He was severely ill, maybe still is. Had himself a death bed conversion, and decided on a course of action to come clean circumventing his totalitarian collaborators.

Send your reporters hence to get the skinny from the horse's mouth.
Talk to Briffa.

Keith Briffa is a grey zone figure who may have been under a huge pressure (which is why he is being mentioned as the top candidate for having done something that I can't even publicly speculate about). You see that even according to the IPCC members, the interests of science are different from the interests of the IPCC. And mentioning the uncertainties and the "issues" in general means not to support Michael Mann enough. ;-)

I am afraid that if any climate scientist in the group is a de facto ethical guy who posted the data in order to reveal the dirt and if the suspicion among the likes of Mann and Jones will grow, he or she will have to rely on Jones' and Mann's getting an electrical chair - otherwise his life will never be safe again because this would be no treason but high treason.
2006: Briffa acknowledges problems with tree-ometers
The point of this message is to show that that this issue is complex , and I still believe the "Western US" series and its interpretation in terms of Hemispheric mean temperature is perhaps a "Pandora's box" that we might open at our peril!
2007: Briffa acknowledges uncertainties: The Sound Of All Hell Breaking Loose: Now... | Gather
I tried hard to balance the needs of the science and the IPCC , which were not always the same. I worried that you might think I gave the impression of not supporting you well enough while trying to report on the issues and uncertainties
[2002?: Briffa doesn't sound like a big Michael Mann fan]
>I have just read this lettter - and I think it is crap. I am sick to
/>death of Mann stating his reconstruction represents the tropical
/>area just because it contains a few (poorly temperature
/>representative ) tropical series. He is just as capable of
/>regressing these data again any other "target" series , such as the
/>increasing trend of self-opinionated verbage he has produced over
/>the last few years , and ... (better say no more)
/>Keith [Briffa]

CRU Refuses FOI Request « Climate Audit
...the chronology of this most recent refusal is, to say the least, interesting.
...
The file contained emails up to and including Nov 12, 2009 (the most recent is 1258053464.txt) the day prior to the date on the letter refusing the appeal.

Or maybe Professor Plum did it in the den with a wrench?

I do think it was Dr. Briffa. He is sick ... very sick. And it is clear in the e-mails that he was never conferrable with the political pressure they were under. There is also a good back and forth between him and Dr. Cook where Cook is apparently confident enough in Briffa's dislike of the rest of the team that he tell Briffa in confidence that he is thinking about writing a paper that will torpedo Mann, Jones, and the rest of the major players then 'publish, retire, and don’t leave a forwarding address.'

I really that that Briffa had a deathbed reformation of sorts. It also didn’t help that it was his character that was besmirched by McIntyre’s destruction of his Yammal chorology.
