Americans can quit holding their collective breaths for Congress to pass an economy-dampening cap-and-trade bill in the name of fighting global warming. As we exhale in relief, incidentally adding more carbon dioxide to the atmosphere, there's an additional blessing. Congress' inability to agree on how government should limit CO2 and other greenhouse gas emissions probably also means an international treaty imposing limits worldwide won't be reached this year, either.

The AGU action is hardly reasonable. Indeed, it is counter-productive to the scientific method and to promoting open scientific discussions. It smacks of censorship. Something is rotten in Copenhagen, Denmark.

Scientific inquiry has once again been silenced ... just as it was 400 years ago.
The AGU should be ashamed. Its members should be outraged.
