COPENHAGEN, Nov 22 (Reuters) - Denmark said on Sunday 65 world leaders had agreed to attend a U.N. conference in Copenhagen in December that will try to clinch a new global climate deal.AFP: Obama to roll out red carpet for India
Facing splits in the climate talks, Denmark 10 days ago formally invited the heads of state and government of 191 U.N. member states to come for the final two days of the Dec. 7-18 conference to push for a deal at the meeting, originally meant for environment ministers.
But Obama and Singh may struggle to see eye-to-eye on one key issue -- climate change. The United States and India are insisting that the other side commit to greater action ahead of next month's high-stakes climate summit in Copenhagen.
"I'm afraid if anything, the gap has widened a bit," Rajendra Pachauri, the Indian who heads the Nobel Peace Prize-winning UN scientific panel on climate change, told Washington-based reporters on a conference call.
