Iowa greenhuse emissions show big jump
CEDAR RAPIDS -- Iowa-based emissions of carbon dioxide -- the greenhouse gas thought most to blame for climate change -- grew at a much faster rate than the national average from 1990 to 2007, an environmental group said Thursday.April '08: Wind Energy Leaders Remain Dominant in Latest U.S. Market Rankings
The report from Environment Iowa said Iowa’s emissions of carbon dioxide climbed by 35 percent over the 17-year period, which includes the most recently released U.S. Environmental Protection Agency data.
Iowa leads the nation in wind generation on a percentage basis, obtaining 5.5% of its electricity from the renewable energy source
