Is an Imminent "Little Ice Age" Possible? -Scientists Says "Yes"
Geophysicist Phil Chapman, the first Australian to become an astronaut with NASA, notes that pictures from the US Solar and Heliospheric Observatory show that there are currently no spots on the sun. He believes this is the reason why the world cooled rapidly between January last year and January this year, by about 0.7C.

"This is the fastest temperature change in the instrumental record, and it puts us back to where we were in 1930," Dr Chapman wrote in The Australian. "If the temperature does not soon recover, we will have to conclude that global warming is over."
[Why don't we all just live in urban areas?]: A Dim View of U.S.-China Electric Car Plan - Dot Earth Blog - NYTimes.com
“Creating a zero-carbon car for China tomorrow won’t solve the much bigger problems of urban congestion, traffic fatalities and the paving over of once-beautiful cities to make room for more cars,” Dr. Schipper said. “The discussions should back up. Energy is only a means to an end. What are the ends, urban access and mobility, or cars for a small minority?
Dear Tom Friedman, Please Look At The Forest Instead Of The Trees « The Unbearable Nakedness of CLIMATE CHANGE
Surely not even “green hawks” believe that the pork-laden 1,400-pages of the “American Clean Energy and Security Act of 2009″ (aka “Waxman-Markey”) will bring anything practical about climate change? Unless, that is, one is talking about “green hawks” that are “willfully blind“, and (literally) “hurting America’s future to boot“.
The Reference Frame: California bans TVs above 183 Watts
Well, look at Froogle (Google Products). What kind of plasma TVs does it offer? Well, the first 42-inch plasma screen in the list is Panasonic TC - P42S1, FullHD, for $745. The operational power consumption is 485 Watts which is 2.5 times the limit. Just to have a clue about the realistic numbers. ;-)
...
Even if all TVs became 33% more efficient than today, California's power consumption would drop by 0.7% only because the total power consumption of all TVs only makes about 2% of California's electricity consumption.
