Richard Littlemore [whistling past the graveyard]: | Hacked emails: They trouble, serious trouble, but not BIG trouble
It's hard to watch this - galling to see the deniers having such fun in this manufactured debacle. It's worse having to listen to sage advice that goes against people whom we have come to respect enormously. I don't personally know that Jones has to be sacked, but I have to admit that it would be savvy for him to at least offer to step aside before someone in authority makes a move to give him a push. Then we can all get back to the science, which is overwhelming and frightening, regardless of the quibbles raised in this, so-ephemeral little crisis.
ETS dismissed as joke | Northern Rivers Environment
Malcolm Turnbull’s leadership of the federal Liberal Party might have survived his agreement with the government on the scheme, but associate professor Peter Waterman, who set up the university’s climate change adaptation division, said the outcome was more political than something likely to reduce emissions.

“The ETS makes Monty Python look weak,” he said.

“It’s a bit of a joke. The reality of the ETS, with its massive concessions, coupled with the government’s own figures, mean it will take 20 years to get a reduction. Why bother?”
Stolen E-Mails Raise Questions On Climate Research : NPR
For example, climatologist John Christy at the University of Alabama in Huntsville accepts that global warming is happening, but he says there is a lot of uncertainty about its causes and impacts. He says he has trouble getting some of his results published.

"I've done a pretty thorough study of snowfall of the Southern Sierra mountains of California, and the Southern Sierra find no downward trend in snowfall," he says.

That's important because snowfall is forecast to decline because of global warming, and that would seriously affect California's water supply. Christy says he has tried three times to get his paper published. So far, it's been rejected, and he suspects it's because scientists are trying to stifle his message.
Climate Change | Leaked Emails |  Miranda Devine - Climate Sceptics
We knew but never before had seen such proof of bad faith, overwhelming in its small detail, its shameless dishonesty, its meanness, its totalitarian tactics, pouncing on every deviation from The Word, as handed down by the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change.
