Assessing Carbon Storage on Public Lands - Green Inc. Blog - NYTimes.com
A massive expansion of forested land in the lower 48 states could store as much as 3 to 7 billion metric tons of carbon, the study noted. Much of the land that could potentially be used for reforestation is already in use for agriculture or other development, however, making such carbon savings largely hypothetical.
Die Klimazwiebel: To scare or not to scare, that is the question
The recently released Copenhagen Diagnosis assessment has been accomplished by 26 scientists, down from 4000 or so that contributed to the Fourth IPCC Report. These 26 have been described to be 'leading scientists', raising the question ‘what are they leading us to’?.
I Pledge Allegiance to Global Warming - WSJ.com
The problem with the petition as a form is also a problem with the Met Office petition's substance. The purpose of the petition is to shore up scientists' authority by vouching for their integrity. But signing a loyalty oath under pressure from the government is itself a corrupt act. Anyone who signs this petition thereby raises doubts about his own integrity. And once again, the question arises: Why should any layman regard global warmism as credible when the "consensus" rests on political machinations, statistical tricks and efforts to suppress alternative hypotheses?
Sensenbrenner IPCC witch-hunt: Attempt to blacklist climate scientists must be rejected « Climate Progress
Sensenbrenner is engaged in an outrageous McCarthyist jihad against the climate science community, making it abundantly clear that this controversy is not really about stolen e-mails, which have been misused and misinterpreted. Rather it is part of an aggressive campaign by the global warming denial machine to bully and intimidate the science community. Sensenbrenner shows no real interest in meaningful dialogue, nor in an honest examination of climate science findings. Denialists are throwing up a smokescreen of propaganda in an attempt to legitimize their refusal to come to grips with scientific evidence on global climatic disruption and its implications. This is a power play.
C3: Tree-Ring Study Done By Non-Climategate, Non-Hockey Stick Scientist Finds Very Warm Sweden During Medieval Period
The late-twentieth century, however, is not exceptionally warm in the new record: On decadal-to-centennial timescales, periods around ad 750, 1000, 1400, and 1750 were equally warm, or warmer. The 200-year long warm period centered on ad 1000 was significantly warmer than the late-twentieth century and is supported by other local and regional paleoclimate data.
U.S. Climate Envoy’s Good Cop, Bad Cop Roles - NYTimes.com
“We are certainly not going to become part of the Kyoto Protocol, so that’s not on the table,” Mr. Stern said at his news conference on Wednesday. “If you mean basically taking the Kyoto Protocol and putting a new title on it, we’re not going to do that either.”

A senior administration official who is part of the current climate negotiating team said that some of Mr. Stern’s feistiness came from the year of pummeling he had taken as the American spokesman for an often unpopular agenda.
Danish Amusement Park Looks to Wind - Green Inc. Blog - NYTimes.com
The turbine — which is undergoing final tests now — is supposed to provide enough energy to power the park, including its many restaurants and shops. But of course, the wind does not blow all the time, so Tivoli is plugged into the Danish electricity grid — which still relies heavily on coal-fired plants
[Other people's money]: Brown pledges £1.5bn global warming aid to poor countries - Telegraph
The Prime Minister also confirmed that EU leaders meeting in Brussels have agreed they will offer a 30 per cent cut in greenhouse gas emissions by 2020, if other countries are willing to commit themselves to ambitious reductions in Copenhagen.

This offer falls short of Mr Brown's call earlier this week for the EU to commit itself to 30 per cent cuts regardless of what other developed countries do.
Shippers Brace for New Tax on Fuel - WSJ.com
In anticipation of a levy, the industry has developed a flurry of new technologies ranging from a giant kite that functions as a sail to aerodynamic paint, and are making simpler adjustments such as sailing more slowly.
Michael Gerson - Michael Gerson on undermining the authority of climate science - washingtonpost.com
Climate scientists are clearly accustomed to deference. Theirs is a community coddled by global elites, extensively funded by governments, celebrated by Hollywood and honored with international prizes.

But outside the Copenhagen bubble, the field of climate science is deep in a crisis of professional credibility, which many scientists seem too insular to recognize.
The Catholic Thing - The Galileo Code
We are now learning just how Inquisitorial the globe's elite climatologists have been.
BBC News - EU climate cash pledge 'not enough' say small nations
Many, like Poland, say they are unable to give cash and have offered instead a percentage of the future sale of unused carbon credits.
