Harvard Escalation Week: [Random guy on a bike dispenses climate realism to a young global warming believer]
Hm, that was interesting. A man just rode up to our site on a bike asking what we were doing this for. When I told him that we are sleeping out for clean electricity, he responded with “Oh, so you believe Al Gore and the global warming hoax?” He then proceeded to tell me to read up on climate gate and that everyone is lying to me. I didn’t say much back and after a minute or so he rode away.

While Climategate does not disprove the existence of anthropogenic global warming, it severely undermines the credibility of climate science and forces us to ask if this science really science. No longer is climate science a hallmark of objective, hard empiricism. The ballyhooed “consensus” seems increasingly to mark science’s descent into a cesspool of vested interest, political correctness and outright propaganda.

...As I wrote back in October, the fate of perhaps the next 100 billion people to walk the Earth rests with scientists (and those who understand the science) trying to communicate the dire nature of the climate problem (and the myriad solutions available now) as well as the ability of the media, the public, opinion-makers and political leaders to understand and deal with that science.
