Last leaves hit by cold as strange year closes - Ireland
It was certainly a strange ending to a very unusual year. It began with quite long spells of cold and was the coldest winter for more than a decade in many parts. Many frosty mornings and some snow falls lasted a bit longer than usual. For the first time since 2001 significant damage was done by frost as plants that have generally scraped through were killed.Flashback: Kevin Trenberth’s REAL travesty « Climate Sanity
[Kevin Trenberth, Oct 12, 2009] Well I have my own article on where the heck is global warming? We are asking that here in Boulder where we have broken records the past two days for the coldest days on record. We had 4 inches of snow. The high the last 2 days was below 30F and the normal is 69F, and it smashed the previous records for these days by 10F. The low was about 18F and also a record low, well below the previous record low. This is January weather (see the Rockies baseball playoff game was canceled on saturday and then played last night in below freezing weather).Kevin E. Trenberth: [Shouldn't this guy understand the difference between weather and climate?]

The fact is that we can’t account for the lack of warming at the moment and it is a travesty that we can’t.
Kevin E. Trenberth is head of the Climate Analysis Section at the National Center for Atmospheric Research. He was a lead author of the 2001 and 2007 IPCC Scientific Assessment of Climate Change (see IPCC Fourth Assessment Report) and serves on the Scientific Steering Group for the Climate Variability and Predictability (CLIVAR) program.Tampa: It's easy to lose cool when things get chilly
I promised myself last winter that I wouldn't go through this ever again: running around in the dark; covering plants when it's cold and windy; moving dozens of pots indoors or, at least, into the lanai; and losing sleep over which of my pretties would make it through a frost or freeze.Activists should stop talking about global warming and start acting | John Humphreys
"The 'right plant-right place' mantra doesn't just apply to sun and soil," I told myself then. "It also means you should give up on growing vulnerable tropicals in frost- and freeze-prone Tampa."
The Government cannot solve all our problems. Indeed, government action has a track record of making bad situations worse. In contrast, a voluntary climate fighting fund can be started immediately without a drawn-out political fight, without all the political compromises, and without the costs associated with government policy. If the Government then later wants to add to the scheme, it could offer matching funding. But a voluntary fund doesn't need to wait for government help or approval. All it needs is a group of climate activists who want to act instead of just talk.
