[We're saved!]: MIT wheels out new bike prototype at climate conference -The Green Blog - A Boston Globe blog on living Green in Boston
Now, a Massachusetts Institute of Technology lab has devised a way to help attract older and less-fit people to biking: A motorized rear wheel. Called the Copenhagen Wheel, it is nothing like the chunky, heavy motorized bikes exploding in popularity across Asia and other parts of the world or the oh-so-trendy scooters seen in US cities. The Wheel, with a small motor in its hub, will fit into any existing bike frame, giving riders extra horsepower for hills and longer distances.
...
The device will provide real-time information -- on a rider's handlebar-mounted smart phone -- about smog conditions and traffic congestion, and their exertion level and progress toward fitness goals. Equipped with GPS, it can even be used to find friends pedaling nearby and to transmit data that city planners and researchers could use to design greener cities.
...
Already, Copenhagen is a bike enthusiast's dream. Some traffic lights -- once timed so cars could hit green lights all the way into downtown -- have been synchronized to benefit bicyclists. [If cars have to spend more time sitting at traffic lights, how much does the weather improve?]

EU Referendum: A vast nexus of influence
Bearing in mind that the issue is based on the central deception that the life-giving gas carbon dioxide is a "pollutant", behind the push to create this multi-trillion dollar industry is a vast nexus of influence, at or near the heart of which – it is emerging – is the chairman of the UN's IPCC, Dr Rajendra Kumar Pachauri.

Carefully cultivating the image of the concerned "scientist", he has on the back of the global warming hype not only been able to amass a considerable personal fortune (about which he is extraordinarily shy) but has also built a powerful global organisation under the brand-name "TERI", as the front for his lobbying and power-broking activities.

Yeah, all this for the poor world and the poor people of the world. Excuse me for the rare outburst – but that is pure bullshit. The dupes falling for corporate greed are not us lowly engineers and scientists (making nothing) while challenging the shoddy science fiction behind man-made global warming. No, the corporate tentacles are running through Copenhagen like a cancer, not with the skeptics.
Climate change influences quality, productivity of tobacco | The Jakarta Post
Global warming, he added, had shortened the cycle of the drought to between two and three years, making it difficult for farmers to predict the beginning of the dry and rainy season. This often led them to plant tobacco at the wrong time.
So, to use the logic of the believers, driving your Hummer prevents lung cancer! Burning the fuel causes CO2 emissions, which cause unpredictable weather, which causes smaller tobacco crops, which raises the price of cigarettes, which causes less smoking, which prevents lung cancer!!

watching the videos out of Copenhagen like this one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7q0IXE_tJzY ... goes to show how "wonderful" it is to have bicycles instead of (nice looking, insured, license plated, law abiding) cars in your city
