Any scientist who even attempts to defend the Climategate scientists and their gross misconduct at attempting to silence critics' science should be removed from any position of science education, research or authority. For scientists to even hint at condoning scientific fraud and conspiracy is 100% unacceptable. At a minimum at least, these Climategate deniers will have less credibility to stand on when appearing at a trial as an expert science witness, potentially hurting their wallet and their reputation. So thank God for Richard North, for my money one of the most diligent, thorough and heroic bloggers on the planet. Once he’s got his teeth into something, he just won’t let go. And currently his jaws are clamped so firmly round Pachauri’s ankles I really see no escape for the jet-setting, troll-impersonating, cricket-loving, ice-and-meat-shunning millionaire beardie unless like some grubby poacher caught in a Victorian man trap Pachauri decides to get out his penknife and hack both his own legs off.[Two months ago today: Al Gore once again shows off his incredibly crappy crystal ball]
Gore: I am more optimistic. I do not think that we will have the final enactment of the Conference Committee Report in Congress before Copenhagen. But if President Obama is able to go to Copenhagen having passed legislation in the House and having passed it in the Senate, it will be inevitable that the legislation comes out even if the Conference Committee is still pending.
SPIEGEL: What are your expectations for Copenhagen ?
Gore: I think it is realistic to expect a treaty. It will not be as strong as I would like it to be. But it will put a price on carbon and change the forward planning of businesses and cities and states, provinces and nations.
