Cal Thomas: Global warming is a falling doctrine | Washington Examiner
PORSTEWART, NORTHERN IRELAND - A familiar philosophical question goes like this: If a tree falls in the forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound? The American Spectator : Global Warmists Feel a Chilly Wind
Here's another: If a doctrine falls, will enough believers admit they were wrong and withdraw support for policies associated with it?
The "doctrine" of global warming, now euphemistically called "climate change," suffered a severe blow last week as much of Europe was buried in record amounts of snow and subfreezing temperatures.
Revkin has the perfect "green" bio. He wrote a book about the Amazon rain forest, lives in the Hudson River Valley, and sometimes accompanies Pete Seeger playing folk music. The word "sustainability" is not far from his lips.Environmentalism as Religion, Redux - Idea of the Day Blog - NYTimes.com
What is so contemptible about these people -- journalists and others -- is their willingness to cluster around the cozy campfires of fashionable opinion, where the grants, awards, academic positions and emoluments are thick on the ground. Then, if they feel the slightest chilly wind from behind, they turn around and say to those on the outside: "You guys wouldn't be out there huffing and puffing if it wasn't for all that oil company money you accept."
This one comes from a less likely source, a professor of philosophy. Writing in The Chronicle of Higher Education, Stephen T. Asma of Columbia College Chicago says the merit of environmental arguments aside, the movement exhibits vestigial religious traits like guilt and indignation — which, as Friedrich Nietschze observed, still dominate “post-Christian” cultures imbued with Judeo-Christian values. Why such chaos in Gwynedd because of the snow? - Caernarfon Herald
Cold hard winters are on the way back, despite the claims to the contrary by the global warming alarmists. Are we going to have this debacle every winter from now on?
