Can green technology save us from global warming?

There's an assumption in my headline--obviously, the questions isn't worth answering if we don't need to be saved. But I am convinced global warming is a serious problem. Serious enough to be worth the investment in technology to improve how we generate, distribute, consume and conserve energy.
