Eric Goodart’s fingers stopped working correctly by the time he began to re-attach electrical parts to the car belonging to his sister, Erin on Monday morning.

A jelly of frozen acid from a broken battery covered his fingers while the two tried desperately to thaw a seized terminal clamp with warm coffee. Eric had to endure the cold, gooey mess on his hands because in addition to the car being disabled by the cold, the pipes in his sister’s home also were frozen. It was not a good start to the morning.

“It sucks,” Eric said. “It is like a less snowy version of Alaska.”

A UK parliamentary committee, the Science and Technology Committee of the House of Commons, on Friday announced an investigation into the Climategate emails, entitled “The disclosure of climate data from the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia.” This is the sixth body known to have opened investigations into Climategate, and the first parliamentary body.

There is an overwhelming amount of information which points to natural and cyclic climate change over the course of earth’s history–change much greater than that seen today, and most definitely not caused by human industrial activity.
