All Charlotte County public schools will be closed today because of power outages due to freezing morning temperatures in the area.

Dr. Dave Gayler, Superintendent of Charlotte County Public Schools has announced the closing of all public schools Monday, January 11, 2010.

Due to an enforcement of a Load Control by Florida Power and Light, all power will be shut off from 5:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Monday morning.

The amount of time it would take to reboot all systems, and the problems that often occur after powering down will not allow for a shortened school day.

The U.S. energy sector is ready to lead the world into a low-carbon future, but we need the right price signals to point the way."
