Any hope for meaningful U.S. climate [hoax] policy? A somewhat positive view | Grist
In general, there are sound reasons to seek to compensate consumers for the energy price increases that will be brought about by a cap-and-trade system, or any meaningful climate change policy. But it is important not to insulate consumers from those price increases, as diluting the price signal reduces the effectiveness and drives up the cost of the overall policy. Thus, “compensation” as in cap-and-dividend is fine, but “insulation” is not.
U.N. Climate Panel and Chief Face Credibility Siege - NYTimes.com
“These people want to distort the picture for their own ends,” Dr. Pachauri said, noting that the report was released two years ago and that the criticisms were only now coming into the limelight. “What we’re doing is not only above-board, but laudable,” he said. “These guys want me to resign, but I won’t.”

Dr. Pachauri, 69, said the only work income he received was a salary from the Energy and Resources Institute: about $49,000, according to his 2009 Indian tax return, which he provided to The New York Times. The return also lists $16,000 in other income, most of it interest on accounts in Indian banks.

Dr. Pachauri acknowledged his role as an adviser and consultant to businesses, but he said that it was his responsibility as the panel’s chairman to disseminate its findings to industry.

Nonetheless, Christopher Monckton, a leading climate skeptic, called the panel corrupt, adding: “The chair is an Indian railroad engineer with very substantial direct and indirect financial vested interests in the matters covered in the climate panel’s report. What on earth is he doing there?”
Siberian cold likely to bring sub-zero temperatures and snow - Times Online
Already this winter has been the coldest since 1981-82 across Britain, and the coldest in Scotland in archives dating back to 1914. With a cold February now in prospect, this winter is now turning out to be unusually long and hard — more like the “winter of discontent” in 1978-79, one of the worst winters of the 20th century.
Comment: Siberian cold likely to bring sub-zero temperatures and snow by Paul Simons: Updated by Piers Corbyn & Stephen Wilde | Climate Realists
[Piers Corbyn] Well Blow me down! The Met Office KNEW and didnt tell us! I have posted on the Times site:

Does anyone believe this:- 'Unlike the earlier part of winter, though, this next freeze was forecast by the Met Office months ago, thanks to an extraordinary chain reaction in the atmosphere across the globe' ?

Really?! If this is true why did the Met Office announce a mild winter when they secretly knew it would be cold now.
