With the recent cold weather freezing many harbors and inlets, the New England Aquarium’s Marine Animal Rescue Team has received frequent reports of harp seals resting on ice floes from Salem to the South Shore.

According to Pangi resident commissioner Gopal Chand, rescue team could not reach Udanbhatoi village where three people were buried under an avalanche on Tuesday night. He said that rescue team could not reach the affected villages as 10 to 12 feet thick snow was hampering rescue operations.
