Geoengineering Gone Wild | The Resilient Earth
Why are scientists earnestly thinking about geoengineering? “It is essential that we have a back-up plan,” the Nature Geoscience editorial concluded, “if geoengineering is that plan, it had better be well researched, well ahead of time.” It is good that this discussion is taking place in the open, but if this is the best that science can offer then we are all in trouble. Not from global warming, but from the fools trying to fix it.Lincoln presses Obama on party 'extremes' at Q and A - The Hill's Blog Briefing Room
She also took a swipe at Obama's White House, referencing a constituent who "fears that there's no one in your administration that understands what it means to go to work on Monday and make a payroll on Friday."Making money on the Chevy Volt won't be easy, should the Feds boost support? — Autoblog Green

But Obama conceded that "Blanche is right that we sometimes get bogged down in ideology."
Slate's Matthew DeBord wonders why the government doesn't push its credit all the way up to $10,000 per vehicle, specifically the 2011 Chevrolet Volt in this instance. DeBord reasons that the car would sell a lot more units at $30,000 (after tax credit) than at $40,000 (before tax credit, estimated)... and he's probably right. But does that mean the government should back the car with such a large incentive?Open letter to President Obama on global warming and call for signatures: Tom Fuller
In summary, diverting aid meant to sustain the health and education of the poorest third of our planet for uncertain climate gains is wrong. If we need to implement climate mitigation strategies, we suggest that defence budgets might be a more appropriate place to look for available funds.Penn State’s inquiry into Michael Mann advances to an investigation | CLIMATEGATE
The only part that worries us is this:Town Hall Meeting – Nashua New Hampshire – President Obama | LVTSG
The investigatory committee will consist of five tenured full professor faculty members who will assess the evidence in the case and make a determination on Mann’s conduct.
But then again, we hear Mann is extremely disliked at Penn State, so you never know.
Republicans and Democrats may not see eye to eye on the threat of global warming — I happen to think the evidence [what evidence, specifically?] is overwhelming. (Applause.) Some disagree. That’s — we can have a respectful argument there. But shouldn’t we agree that American homegrown energy is good for our security, and that new clean energy jobs are good for our economy? (Applause.) Can’t we all agree that these jobs shouldn’t be going to China or Germany or Spain — they should be right here in United States of America. (Applause.)
So let’s invest in innovation. Let’s put people to work on solar panels and wind towers and cutting-edge batteries. Because the nation that leads the clean energy economy will be the nation that leads the global economy, and America has to be that nation. (Applause.)
