The San Diego Zoo [promotes climate hoax to raise money; takes animals on unnecessary fossil-fueled trip to New York]
Yesterday in New York, we swung by a hotel penthouse to say hi to a few of the San Diego Zoo's animal handlers and staff, who had brought some of the zoo's most portable critters to town (even though they had to take a cargo plane) for appearances on morning shows and the like.
...
In addition to just seeing the bears, visitors are going to be exposed to tons of exhibits designed to give them a feel for working with the animals and being part of the teams who are trying to save the species as their homes and hunting grounds disappear due to global warming.
...
And for those who really love polar bears, there are two ways you can really in touch with them and their dire survival situation: one is to watch the Zoo's polar bear cam and donate to the zoo so that they can support the bears and their Churchill projects, or two—you can head up to the Churchill Ice Field with them yourself and see bears in the wild in person. Contact the zoo to find out more on these trips, or just read an account of research life up there in Churchill to be sure it's a place you want to spend your vacation.
The Power Behind Hurricanes and Tornadoes « the Air Vent
Now we’ve all been taught, warm air rises and cold air falls, to create updrafts, wind, tornadoes and this kind of thing (Carnot heat engines). Anastassia’s work demonstrates problems with the Carnot model and then looks at the forces created when a moist air column experiences condensation. The condensation itself removes water from the gas phase resulting in a pressure drop. This pressure drop powers the column of rising air in the walls of hurricanes and tornadoes. It’s really an exciting development, but as a climate outsider it seems hit you in the head obvious. Who knew this hadn’t already been figured out? Anyway, the work is very interesting and an entertaining read.

[Kevin Libin] ...having implied that scientists can be led astray, why assume only IPCC types are immune?
Stick A Fork In Cap-and-Trade | Talking Points Memo
At a town hall style event in New Hampshire a short time ago, President Obama acknowledged that cap and trade might have to be cleaved from the energy bill in the Senate and passed separately, which is to say, not passed at all.
The Left Can Also Disown Cap-and-Trade (change a few words from Bob Herbert’s rejection of government health care and there you have it!) — MasterResource
There are multiple reasons for the Left to get off the climate alarmism bandwagon in any case. Here are three: corporate welfare, nuclear power, and geo-engineering. Then there is the biggest reason fingered by Herbert himself: concern for the poor. Higher energy prices with no appreciable change in global climate is all pain, no gain.

Will Democrats get it? Will Al Gore be told to either reinvent himself or fade away? A grand, broad rethink is in order.
