Win the Planet
Using a model that is proven (lotteries are after all present in almost every country of the world), wintheplanet.com will be focusing on the global segment of constant lottery players but also environmentalists and green supporters.Hot Air » Blog Archive » Former CRU chief admits warming may not be unprecedented
Tickets will be sold online and the draws will be done by a RNG (random number generator) that uses atmospheric noise to generate the winning numbers. Ironic as it may be, the planet will actually decide who the lucky winner is.
If the massive warming seen in Europe occurred around the world, then what we have seen in the 20th century would be almost certainly a moderate, natural, cyclical warming coming out of a cold trough. It would also call into question what exactly a good temperature would be for the Earth. After all, even if the second graph only applied to the northern hemisphere, the increased temperatures didn’t cause the end of life on the planet; indeed, food became more plentiful, and the melting of the polar-region ice didn’t create massive catastrophes. The full BBC Q&A of Phil Jones | CLIMATEGATE
The phrase ‘hide the decline’ was shorthand for providing a composite representation of long-term temperature changes made up of recent instrumental data and earlier tree-ring based evidence, where it was absolutely necessary to remove the incorrect impression given by the tree rings that temperatures between about 1960 and 1999 (when the email was written) were not rising, as our instrumental data clearly showed they were.Roger Pielke Jr.'s Blog: Glantz and Pielke Letter in the Boulder Daily Camera
This “divergence” is well known in the tree-ring literature and “trick” did not refer to any intention to deceive – but rather “a convenient way of achieving something”, in this case joining the earlier valid [how, specifically, do we know that this earlier part is "valid"?] part of the tree-ring record with the recent, more reliable instrumental record.
...just last October Dr. Trenberth testified to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment that the rising toll of disasters has been at least in part caused by global warming (cdphe.state.co.us/climate/ClimateChangeTrenberth.pdf). There is simply no scientific basis for this claim. Increasing wealth, population and reporting explains the entire increase. Before pointing fingers at other scholars, Dr. Trenberth may first wish to ensure that he has his own facts straight and is not misleading policy makers. The Neanderthals Just Can’t Stop Themselves
Today, there is a disgraceful letter published in The Observer [p. 40] from Bob Ward, Policy and Communications Director of the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, which is chaired by Lord Stern. The letter attacks Dr. Benny Peiser, the Director of the Global Warming Policy Foundation (GWPF): “Dr Peiser argues for less bias and more transparency in the climate policy debate. Perhaps he could begin by being transparent about who funds his Global Warming Policy Foundation.”
Oh dear! They just can’t stop themselves, can they? Here we have yet another Neanderthal example of the ‘global warming’ debate at its worst, and how out-of-date it already feels. I just sighed wearily. The Neanderthals are clearly on the path to extinction, although I suspect that there will be a considerable amount of inter-breeding on the way.
