YouTube - Frozen Wasteland
I saw "The Who" perform Baba O'Reily (AKA Teenage Wasteland) for the halftime show at the Superbowl and was inspired to do this parody in honor of the horrible winter we're having. Grilled by a sceptical student, Kevin Rudd defends the scandal-ridden IPCC as just a bunch of serious climate scientists:BBC - Richard Black's Earth Watch: Climate panel: Time for a refit? The first thing I’d say is the IPCC - International Panel on Climate Change - scientists has 4000 essentially humourless scientists in white coats who go around and measure things and have been doing so for about 20 years. They reached a conclusion about, first of all, climate change happening and, second, the high likelihood, defined as 90 per cent plus, of it being caused by human activity sometime ago.
If its projected ranges of temperature rise, sea level rise, rainfall change and so on do map out our planet's immediate future, then we need the best interpretations of impacts, costs and benefits - that's what the IPCC is for, and however it's constituted or whatever replaces it, it's vital that the organisation(s) performing that role must inspire trust among not only governments but the wider public.
