Kingfisher numbers knocked by cold snap | 2010
WILDLIFE experts have warned that kingfisher numbers have been hit hard on the River Lee Navigation due to the worst winter in 30 years.

The navigation is one of the best places in the country to spot the elusive bird, but harsh winter weather has led to fears that its stocks have plummeted.

KIDDERMINSTER’S Carnival queen was all smiles on a visit to German twin town, Husum, despite the freezing weather takings its toll on a popular flower festival.

Cold weather had left the annual Crocus Festival without any flowers but the celebrations continued, regardless.

After the festival, a day was spent at the New Energy Fair, an important event for Husum’s ecomony, attracting exhibitors from across the globe.

This year the show was dedicated to electric vehicles, with presentations on wind and solar power generation.
