Yes, the Earth is warming — there is little doubt that this is true, and yes, humans are very substantially to blame. But there are many questions that are still up in the air. For example, what might happen in particular regions is much less certain. As Schneider put it, “What’s going to happen to precipitation in Kansas? We don’t even know if it is going to get wetter or drier, and there are competing explanations.”

What’s the best climate insurance policy we can buy? Not surprisingly, Michaels opposes cap-and-trade legislation. But Schneider is not terribly enthusiastic about it either, preferring a carbon tax instead.
EU Referendum: The day comes closer
Bizarrely, the new climate change commissioner, Connie Hedegaard, is claiming that EU member states could lose jobs to China unless it adopts the higher target. It is, the commission tells us, in the EU's self-interest because cutting emissions more quickly than anywhere else would help create low-carbon industries which could sell their technologies to other parts of the world.

How our rulers could be capable of subscribing to such a fantasy is beyond mortal comprehension.
