Global warming and the dog that didn't bark
Global warming as a media scare story began more or less in England, with Margaret Thatcher needing a convenient tool to fight coal miners and push for her preferred energy solution, nuclear power. Her assistant, a certain Viscount Monckton, suggested she investigate global warming as a possible tool. it worked. And it spread, becoming a tool to advance partisan political agendas, competing technology solutions and a Trojan horse for many who wanted to orient aid and action towards the needs of the third world. If any of this proves to be true, we will have sacrificed an awful lot for very little.
