Starting on the Ellef Ringnes Island north of Canada on March 14th, the three explorers travelled over 483 miles (777 kilometres) in total and faced extremely challenging conditions such as head-winds, negative drift, thin ice and had to swim across large areas of open water. For a land that is used to harsh winters, higher temperatures could be a rather welcome change. In addition to new bird and butterfly species, some experts predict crop production will flourish due to warmer temperatures. A longer growing season could lead to improvements in crop yield, boosting the Finnish economy.

Certainly some cyclical warming occurred after the 1970s, but the record of new high temperature extremes shows that … whatever the derived averages … there was no significant climate change versus past cyclical warm periods.
