Just in case you doubted the power of money to affect efforts to rein in greenhouse gases, read Margot Roosevelt’s news story in the Los Angeles Times about the successful effort, paid for mainly by oil companies, to put an initiative on the fall ballot that could suspend the state’s pioneering, and troubled, climate law, Assembly Bill 32.

The value of global carbon [swindle] market expanded 6 percent last year to $144 billion, according to a World Bank report. The value of transactions in the EU program rose to $118 billion, while the CDM contracted 59 percent to $2.7 billion, mainly because of complex regulations and administrative bottlenecks.
