We want to be the greenest hospital! (From Messenger Newspapers)
At a recent conference, Professor Ashley Woodcock, who shared the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize with Al Gore, spoke about the importance of lowering carbon emissons, while staff were encouraged to wear green to mark their support for the scheme.

Professor Woodcock is based at the University Hospital South Manchester and leads the Respiratory Research Group in the North West Lung Centre which is an internationally recognised group in translational and clinical lung research. His research interests include:

* Early life development of asthma and allergy
* Gene environment interactions
* Diagnosis, detection and treatment of cough
* Novel treatments for airway disease, including asthma/COPD
