Moms think 20 trillion, or 10 million, is just too much!

We make this challenge from the top of Mount Rainier because nowhere are the effects of Governor Gregoire’s inaction on dirty coal more evident than on our state’s most hallowed landmark. Every year, as our children grow, TransAlta’s stack spews 20 trillion pounds of greenhouse gases that warm the climate and melt our mountain.

On July 16th, 2010, a group of moms and community members from Vashon Island will summit Mt. Rainier to draw attention to the TransAlta coal plant in Centralia, Washington. TransAlta is the biggest polluter in Washington State, spewing 10 million pounds of greenhouse gas emissions into the atmosphere, as well as mercury and haze pollution.
