One idea still considered science fiction that could possibly mitigate global warming is a "solar sail" that could be positioned between the Earth and sun and be used to reduce the energy input from the sun, [Les Johnson, physicist and deputy manager for the Advanced Concepts Office at the NASA George C. Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala] said.
"Is this still science fiction?" Johnson asked. "Yes, it is -- today."
