New Zealand: Climate hoax now facing "town-hall style" outrage?

Smith gets gored in Gore |  New Zealand
Last week Private Bin traversed to the deep bowels of Southland, to Gorrrrrre no less, to see how Nick Smith’s sale job on the Emissions Trading Scheme was going.
...
Private Bin was shocked to discover the car park overflowing with standing room only in the hall.

A crowd of 300 was baying for a stoush (for train potters by the way, 300 is 2% of Gore’s population).

Our forlorn Climate Change Minister manfully tried to run the PowerPoint road show but the catcalls, interjections and booing overwhelmed the three supporters Private Bin could spot.

Perhaps the worse move after sticking to the script was an attempted ‘exit stage left’ to the ‘next meeting’.

That just saw the audience explode in frustration. Exploding is probably the National Party’s hopes of eliciting donations in this heartland area.
Nick Smith faces anger at ETS meeting [another perspective on the above meeting] - National - NZ Herald News
There were fears for the safety of Climate Change Minister Nick Smith last night as he faced a barrage of abuse from mainly irate Southland farmers at a meeting to discuss the Emissions Trading Scheme (ETS).

More than 300 people from across Clutha and Southland packed the Gore venue, where it was obvious even before the meeting began that opposition to the scheme was strong.

Farmer and businessman Richard King took the chance to have his say face-to-face with the minister before the start. Following a heated exchange, Mr King told nzherald.co.nz he had been a National Party member for more than 40 years. "I'm here to say 'to hell with it'."

Dr Smith struggled to give his 20-minute presentation as he was continually interrupted by hecklers. At one point it appeared the chairman, Invercargill MP Eric Roy, almost lost control of the meeting as he repeatedly yelled for order and had to stop one man from advancing toward Dr Smith.
Flashback: Smith's ETS explanation not popular | Stuff.co.nz
Climate Change Minister Nick Smith last night turned down a request for a show of hands in support of the Emissions Trading Scheme at the end of a meeting in Blenheim to explain the scheme.

The audience would have to wait until the next year's general election to show their feelings about the ETS, Dr Smith said.
...
About 160 people were at the Marlborough Convention Centre to hear the Dr Smith discuss the scheme which takes effect in the transport, electricity and industrial sectors tomorrow.

The tide of feeling in the audience against the scheme did not seem to have changed by the end of two and a half hours of intense questioning.
