Nye Delighted About Exoneration From ClimateGate 'Sham'; Calls Skeptics 'Irrational'
“But for people who are in the business, for people who are, if you will, trying to change the world, it's a great thing,” Nye said. “This was based on – on, really, selective taking of phrases and twisting them – taking them out of context. It's almost, as I said a few months ago, it's not just mean-spirited, it's irrational. So, I'm delighted this got done.”Climategate: reinstating Phil Jones is good news – the CRU brand remains toxic – Telegraph Blogs
Despite Nye’s view, ClimateDepot.com’s Marc Morano has compiled a list of the various concerns about the Russell report that has supposedly exonerated these ClimateGate scientists. And Bjørn Lomborg, author of “Cool It: The Skeptical Environmentalist's Guide to Global Warming,” was also a guest on “Campbell Brown” explained that it wasn’t necessary a win in that it strengthened the case for the global warming alarmist community, but instead was black mark on how scientist in this field behave.
“But the point here is, it's much more about scientist's behavior, the circling of wagons, if you will, the portrayal of climate change as this monolithic polished entity that everybody agrees,” Lomborg explained. “And that was where you saw these scientists talking about deleting e-mails. We've seen that the largest primary data of the fundamental data that underlies most climate change research, namely, the temperature data of the last 150 years, has disappeared.”
This is the third Climategate whitewash job and it would be tempting to see it as just as futile as its predecessors. That, however, would be to underrate its value to the sceptic cause, which is considerable.Julia Gillard on the climate change attack | Herald Sun
This is because Russell’s “Not Guilty” verdict has been seized upon as an excuse to reinstate Phil Jones at the University of East Anglia CRU, this time as Director of Research. That is very good news. It spells out to the world that the climate clique looks after its own; that there is no more a culture of accountability and job forfeiture for controversial conduct in AGW circles than there is in parliamentary ones; that it is business as usual for Phil and his merry men. Or, to put it more bluntly, the brand remains toxic.

Though the latest released report has cleared the scientists of all allegations, climate change skeptic Jeff Id, whose blog carried link to hack emails, is still unconvinced and believes that scientists did distort data to prove their theory that humans are responsible for global warming.
“Despite the fact that they [Muir Russell report] somehow managed to conclude that ‘hide the decline’ and the endless discussions of the intent to make the story consistent in the emails, did not constitute ‘hide the decline’,” wrote the climate change skeptic on his blog The Air Vent, which carried the link to FTP link where the hacked emails were published.
Concluding his argument, Jeff Id reiterated that the scientists were constantly under pressure to “present a tidy story” and they did try to come up with “a self consistent story from otherwise ‘ridiculously’ bad data and methods.”
