Such thinking illustrates why some people believe they can get away with abusive behavior: They hold the power. They have the reputation. They, not the accuser, will be believed.

I used to truly like Gore. I liked the way he stood up for the environment, before he went nuts after he lost the 2000 election (I did vote for him, BTW). He used to mostly practice what he preached, now he seems to be into AGW for the status (hmm) and money.
