In sum, the administration has been wrong to neglect the already-primed sources of energy such as domestic oil, which hold the only possibility of sustaining us until we develop the requisite technology for wind, solar and nuclear – expensive propositions that require large capital investments in research and development. If we continue to harp on the negative aspects of today’s infrastructure at the expense of these technologies-of-the-future, we will either die painfully or be overtaken by our shrewder and less doctrinaire competitors, whichever happens first.
