Greenpeace claims to have shut down Greenland oil well - Telegraph
Greenpeace claims its activists have shut down a ''dangerous'' oil drilling operation by a British energy company in the Arctic.Greenpeace Australia Pacific » Blog Archive » Why DOES the Esperanza have a diesel electric motor?

They claim that if they halt drilling for a short time, Cairn will struggle to meet the deadline to complete exploration before the winter conditions set in, forcing the company to abandon the search for oil off Greenland until next year.

The Greenpeace ship, the Esperanza, set sail from London last month with a pledge to target what the environmental group described as one of the 10 most dangerous deep water drilling sites in the world.
Once again the Esperanza is ‘fuelling’ debate about Greenpeace sustainability. It’s a question we’re often asked on open boat days: “why does the Esperanza run on diesel? Isn’t that hypocritical?” The question has stimulated a lively debate at the Herald Sun.
There are a few important points to note here. First and foremost, the Esperanza is the ship we take to the Southern Ocean to protect whales from Japanese whaling vessels.
