Bogus claim in Obama administration press release?: DOT headquarters is entirely powered by renewable energy

Media-Newswire.com - Press Release Distribution - PR Agency
The U.S. Department of Transportation ( DOT ), for example, said that its headquarters in Washington has been powered entirely by renewable electricity since 2009 under a contract with the General Services Administration, the agency that manages many federal buildings. The Transportation Department’s nearly 800 buildings nationwide use 15 percent less energy today than they did in 2003 thanks to building retrofits and a host of energy-savings programs that are now expanding.

Gasoline cars are gradually being replaced with ethanol or hybrid electric cars; the goal is for a majority of the agency’s nearly 6,000 vehicles to eventually run on alternative fuel.
...
Another large agency, the Department of Energy, said that nearly 5 percent of its total electricity use now consists of renewable energy and that it beat its annual renewable goal for 2009.
...
The agency’s 15,000 employees are good at recycling too....

A Department of "Energy" that wants to impose energy conservation and rationing reminds very much of George Orwell's "ministry of plenty"
