It’s time to tone down the zealotry, the hysteria and the fervor, and ratchet up the spirit of inquiry and the respect for voices of caution. Reason must be employed if we hope to move the public to take pragmatic action. Bullying, insults, manipulation of data and wildly exaggerated claims merely fuel skepticism, because science does not need, or want, any of those things to make a case.

Wales is set to become the first country in the world to mobilise a national response to climate change.

At yesterday’s launch (7 September, 2010) by HRH Prince Charles, of the Size of Wales project, speakers and guests heard that the country was poised to help sustain an equivalent area of tropical forest in Africa, reaping benefits for communities both there and at home.
