FOXBusiness.com - Greenpeace Protesters Still Block UK Drill Ship-Chevron
LONDON -(Dow Jones)- Greenpeace protesters are still holding up Chevron Corp's (CVX: 80.09 ,0.00 ,0.00%) plan to drill a new well in the U.K. North Sea despite a court order that halted a previous protest on Sunday, a company spokesman said Monday.

Greenpeace activists have entered the water ahead of the Stena Carron drillship, forcing it to remain stationary, "for the safety of the protesters," the spokesman said. The drillship was sailing to the West of Shetland area of the North Sea to drill an exploration well on the Lagavulin prospect.

"This latest act is extremely dangerous and once again demonstrates that Greenpeace is willing to put its volunteers at risk by entering the path of the Stena Carron while the vessel is in transit," he said.

Greenpeace put four swimmers in the path of the vessel at around 1230 GMT Sunday, forcing it to stop, the group said in a statement on its web site. "We're now planning to send waves of swimmers and campaigners in kayaks out in front of the drillship throughout today and tomorrow to pressure the ship into turning back," it said.

Greenpeace protesters who had attached themselves to the Stena Carron's anchor chain abandoned that protest Sunday in compliance with a court order.
