What's a conservative to do? Stick with Rep. Mary Bono Mack or try Steve Pougnet? | mydesert.com | The Desert Sun
On June 8, 2009, Mary betrayed her constituents by voting for cap- and-trade. I spoke with Mary's chief of staff in Washington trying to get an answer as to why. Had she repented? Would she do it again? The chief of staff was spinmeister supremo. From what I could extrapolate from a quagmire of circumlocutory obfuscation, I gathered that Mary voted for this bill because:

A. She was naïve and taken in by Obama's rhetoric.

B. She thought she might be able to co-opt the Environmental Protection Agency's usurpation of legislative authority over non-polluting greenhouse gases.

C. Heat and wind of the desert would do well for her district in “green” development.

“A” speaks very poorly for her intelligence and judgment; “B” was a total failure as the EPA usurped the power anyway; and “C,” bankrupting the nation in order to expand Palm Springs' windmills, is pathetic.
