Carbon emissions reduction film “blows up” children to make its point | The SPPI Blog
For a fringe campaign, 10:10 has been remarkably successful. Around 100,000 people from 152 countries have signed up. British Prime Minister David Cameron has pledged the entire British government to participate. Large companies are associated with 10:10, including Britain’s Royal Mail, the electronics giant Sony, and Facebook. The United Nations-backed Climate Neutral Network is one of its many “partner” organisations. The World Wildlife Fund for Nature and Greenpeace are supporters through their proxy the Global Campaign for Climate Action.

So 10:10 is not a fringe organization. They’re widely trusted in the global climate activist community. Whether these adherents will now denounce the campaign for its tasteless exercise in arrogance and sadism remains to be seen. Let’s hope so, but it seems unlikely for the following reason.

It’s been a terrible year for climate change activists.
...
That an organisation well respected by global climate change activists thought that might be funny betrays a global movement of hysteria that is out of touch with modern civilisation and rotten to the core.
THE HOCKEY SCHTICK: Jet-Setting Bill Gates tells rest of Planet to Emit ZERO CO2 and Depopulate
In a recent TED conference presentation, Bill Gates, owner of a $21 million private jet and 66,000 sq ft mansion with a $30,000/month electric bill, tells the rest of the planet to emit zero carbon dioxide. The father of three and investor in mass sterilization technologies also tells the rest of the planet to depopulate. As shown in this clip, Gates presents his stone cold mathematical analysis for allegedly solving the global warming hoax by reducing global CO2 emissions to zero, predicting CO2 emissions as follows: CO2 = P x S x E x C
GREEN DREAM | Daily Telegraph Tim Blair Blog
The clip itself was directed by cloying Brit romance specialist Richard Curtis, who doesn’t exactly seem an obvious choice to advocate reduced consumption:
Curtis lives in Notting Hill and has a country house in Walberswick, Suffolk … with script editor and broadcaster Emma Freud. They have four children; daughter Scarlett Rachel Anne, and three sons, James, Charlie and Spike. They have another country retreat in Henley, Oxfordshire.
