Ethanol Policy Discussed at White House
The American Meat Institute along with other critics of the current U.S. ethanol policy, have met with White House officials to express concerns regarding recent proposed modifications made by corn ethanol organizations to expand federal support for corn-based ethanol and extend the blender’s tax credit. The meeting was chaired by Heather Zichal, deputy assistant to the President for Energy and Climate Change.
AMI President and CEO J. Patrick BoylePatrick Boyle called the meeting – very productive and encouraging. AMI has had longstanding concerns over the negative impact the rapid expansion of the subsidized corn ethanol industry has had on the meat and poultry sector and American food prices. Boyle looks forward to future discussions with the White House and other interested parties on this important issue.
